Privacy Policy – Mobile Application

1. Introduction

Welcome to the Monkey Business Cowork app (the “App”). The App is operated by Monkey Business Cowork, located at Phra-Ae Beach, Koh Lanta, Krabi, Thailand (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our iOS application.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you register or update your profile, you may provide:

  • Name (first and last name) and a chosen username
  • Email address and password (used for authentication)
  • Nationality (country of origin)
  • A short personal bio
  • A profile photo (either a preset avatar or a photo uploaded from your device’s photo library)
  • A privacy preference controlling whether you appear in the community Squad (recent check-ins) list

2.2 Information Generated Through Use

When you use the App, we may collect or generate:

  • Check-in records – the date and time you check in to the coworking space
  • Authentication tokens – stored securely in your device’s Keychain to keep you logged in
  • App interaction data – such as menu views, event views, and perk views

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect precise device location data, payment card information, or sensitive personal data (such as health or biometric data). The App does not contain advertising SDKs or third-party analytics trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely
  • Display your profile to you and, where you have opted in, to other members in the community Squad feature
  • Record your check-ins and associate them with your member profile
  • Show you relevant content such as the café menu, member perks, and upcoming events
  • Communicate service-related information (for example, changes to this policy)
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the App and our systems

4. Community Squad & Your Privacy Controls

The Squad feature shows a list of members who have recently checked in. Participation is entirely optional. You can opt out at any time by navigating to Edit Profile and toggling off “Show me in Squad (recent check-ins)”. When you opt out, your name and avatar will not appear in the Squad list for other members.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use a WordPress-based backend hosted at monkeybusinessonlanta.com to store and serve data. This server is operated by us or on our behalf.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by Thai law, court order, or government authority.
  • Business transfers: If Monkey Business Cowork is sold or merged, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you in advance.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on our WordPress backend server. Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted and protected by your device’s security features. Profile photos are uploaded and stored on our server.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no system is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 10). We will process deletion requests within a reasonable time frame.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction – update or correct inaccurate information via the Edit Profile screen or by contacting us
  • Deletion – request that we delete your account and personal data
  • Objection – object to certain processing of your data
  • Portability – request your data in a structured, machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 10.

9. Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your device’s photo library solely to allow you to upload a profile photo. We only access the specific image you select – we do not scan, index, or access your broader photo library. You can revoke this permission at any time in your iPhone’s Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document. If changes are significant, we will notify you via the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
